Theron de Ris, Founder & Portfolio Manager

Theron was formerly a senior research analyst at Indus Capital Partners where he also held consultant and client service roles. From 2000 – 2008 he was an executive director at Morgan Stanley in Milan and London where he ran the global equity institutional desk. Theron began his career at Goldman Sachs in Frankfurt in 1995, later moving to London. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), he graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury College in 1995 with a degree in International Politics & Economics, and German.

 

John Pryce-Robertson, Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer John oversees non-investment related functions at the firm including compliance, IT and middle office. John began his career at Fisher Investments, in the firm’s client on-boarding team for retail pension clients. Prior to joining Eschler, John worked for Cognition Investment Partners as head of business development working across investor relations, business strategy and marketing. He holds a BSc degree in Genetics from The University of Manchester.

 

 

Matthew Anthony, Director of Business Development

Having completed an internship at Eschler in 2017, Matthew recently joined the team to develop our investor relations function and pipeline of prospective investors. Prior to Eschler, Matthew was an associate at Cetera Advisor Networks in Dallas, Texas USA and he has also worked as a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual in Austin, Texas. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Management – Finance, Cum Laude, from Franklin University Switzerland in Lugano, Switzerland.

 

 

Richard Rothwell, Non-Executive Advisor

Richard joined the team as a Non-Executive Advisor in June 2018. He brings a wealth of experience across the investment profession, having established Stoneware Capital, an FCA-regulated investment manager, in 2006. He began his career in 1985, qualifying as a chartered accountant and becoming an audit manager with Arthur Andersen, before managing money for three of the largest global investment managers: Hermes Investment Management, Deutsche Asset Management and Northern Trust. Richard is a Fellow and prior Chairman of the Board of CFA UK, one of the largest member societies of the CFA Institute, which promotes professionalism and the highest ethical standards. He has acted as an expert witness, including for the FCA, and graduated from Cambridge University. He was awarded the Wincott Foundation Prize by AIIMR (a precursor of CFA UK) and chaired the panel which was responsible for the Investment Management Certificate during the IMC’s formative years.
