Theron de Ris
Theron is CIO of Sorengo Partners. He was formerly a senior research analyst at Indus Capital Partners. Prior to Indus he was an executive director at Morgan Stanley in Milan and London. Theron began his career at Goldman Sachs in Frankfurt in 1995.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and alumnus of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSBUK Cohort 24), he graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury College in 1995 with a degree in International Politics & Economics.
Sloane Robinson

Edward Lam
Edward joined Sloane Robinson in 2023. He started his investment career at Lloyd George Management in 2004. From 2007 he was a founding partner of Somerset Capital Management (SCM) and Head of Research. He transformed the inherited investment process and was instrumental in building SCM into a USD 10 bn AUM Emerging Markets business. Alongside that, in 2010 he designed and launched the SCM EM Dividend Growth strategy, an award-winning fund which he grew from USD 1.5 mn seed to USD 3.6 bn under management. He graduated University of Cambridge with an MA in History.

Christian Putz
Christian founded ARR Investment Partners and has been managing the ARR global long-short equity strategy since 2015. Previously, he managed the Eastern European L/S Equity Fund for the investment boutique Kazimir Partners in Moscow, where he moved in 2009. He started his institutional investment management career at MAN Group, an alternative investment firm with AUM >$100bln, in 2006. He worked across multiple asset classes including Credit, VC and funds of hedge funds. Christian has been an active investor since 1997, and holds a master’s in business administration and a master’s in international business administration and economics from the University of Innsbruck.

Daniel Ekstein
Dan co-founded GLIM after managing top-quartile performing funds at Majedie Asset Management and Liontrust Asset Management. Before his fund management career, Dan spent a decade as top-ranked equity research analyst at UBS, covering consumer and energy. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (FCA, ICAEW), and holds the CFA IMC designation.

Sam Bealing
Before co-founding GLIM Sam served as a deputy fund manager and senior analyst at Liontrust Asset Management. His career started in equity sales at UBS, specialising in small and mid-cap stocks and real estate, whilst also managing alpha capture systems for leading hedge funds. Sam is a CFA Charterholder.

Martin Theron
Prior to founding Toho, Martin spent seven years as an investment analyst at Orbis Investment Advisory, with responsibility for Japan and Global Funds. In his early career, he was a sell-side analyst in Johannesburg covering global TMT companies, with early coverage of Naspers and other emerging market technology leaders.

Mike Cunningham
Prior to setting up ACMR, Mike Cunningham was an Equity Research analyst as part of highly ranked institutional teams at Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein covering the Media & Internet sector for over 15 years. A keen proponent of Value Investing, Mike was a Guest Lecturer on the subject at Bayes Business School (Cass) in the City of London. Mike began his career as an Economist at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) in London. Mike holds an MiF from the London Business School, an MSc Corporate & International Finance (Distinction) from the University of Durham, and a First-Class Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Jack founded Colebrooke Partners after practicing law at SJ Berwin LLP, King & Wood Mallesons LLP, and Macquarie Group. He holds degrees from Oxford University and University College London and currently serves as Chairman of Naked Wines plc.

Richard Simmons
Richard has been managing equity investments since 1998 and has a best in class, verified track record. He is 51 years old, holds an MA from Oxford and an MBA from Cass Business School, being banker from 1986 to 1997. Author of “Buffett Step by Step” (Financial Times/Pitman Publishing) and most importantly, he has invested his own money in the fund.

David Wharton
David is the founder of Thornvale Capital and has over 25 years of experience in the Investment Trust sector. He graduated from UCL in 2001 with a BSc in Physics and is a CFA charterholder. He began his career as a graduate on the InvestmentTrusts team at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, before moving with the team to Collins Stewart, which later became part of Canaccord. Prior to launching Thornvale in 2024, David was responsible for risk and trading on the Investment Trust desk at Investec, overseeing liquidity provision, execution strategy and risk management. An accomplished coder, David has built Thornvale’s proprietary risk engine, trading platform and modelling system, giving the firm a technological edge and enabling a highly disciplined, data‑driven approach to investing.
